{"id":1191,"date":"2014-06-16T13:45:49","date_gmt":"2014-06-16T12:45:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eastbournefhs.org.uk\/wp\/?page_id=1191"},"modified":"2025-05-29T20:09:05","modified_gmt":"2025-05-29T19:09:05","slug":"more-about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/eastbournefhs.org.uk\/wp\/?page_id=1191","title":{"rendered":"Our Aim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Family Roots was formed in July 1986 with the adoption of our constitution.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our aim is to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> promote and encourage the public study of family history and genealogy with particular reference to persons living in or associated with the Eastbourne area and the preservation, <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">security and accessibility of archival material.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The society is very active with membership consistently being in excess of 150.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our monthly meetings regularly attract 60 &#8211; 80 members.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Family Roots is for all those who want to trace their family, whether living locally, in any other part of the UK, or even the wider world.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our Society is very active and offers a warm and friendly welcome to new members.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Amongst the many activities we offer members,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> a magazine published three times a year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> a\u00a0 bookstall featurring our data CDs, we have a limited supply of Contiguous parish booklets available on our online shop.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">monthly speakers and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> involvement in current projects.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Family Roots was formed in July 1986 with the adoption of our constitution.Our aim is to: promote and encourage the public study of family history and genealogy with particular reference to persons living in or associated with the Eastbourne area and the preservation, security and accessibility of archival material.
