The June edition of the Cheshire Ancestor is now in the member’s area.

At the next meeting on Thursday 7th June, our speaker will be Jamie Burges-Lumsden, Director of “Deceased Online”, a national database of Municipal burials and cremations records for family historians to find their relatives final resting place. Although this sounds a sad subject we will be cheered up to hear enlightening stories of how family historians have discovered lost relations and how by searching these records brick walls can be breached.

Don’t forget our AGM is on Thursday 5th April followed by The Life & times of Edith Cavell.

 Due to the extremely cold weather and the forecast of snow, this evening’s meeting is unfortunately cancelled.

It is possible we may have to cancel this meeting due to the possibility of snow.  If the school is closed then we will not be able to have a meeting.

At the next meeting on Thursday 1st March Family Roots is delighted to welcome back local historian,  Ian Everest, who is talking about The Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Ian’s interest in this organisation started 35 years ago when he travelled to Northern France to visit the grave of his great uncle. Like many others who have visited the war cemeteries, he developed a great respect and admiration for the high standards of their presentation and maintenance. The talk will look at the origins of the Commission, the work involved in constructing the cemeteries and how it manages to inspire new generations to honour those who fell for their country.
